Saratov is one of the largest cities in the Volga region. On the Saratov land, many Christian shrines have survived, including ancient monasteries and cathedrals that store valuable relics. Today they are protected by the state as architectural and historical monuments. But this was not always the case, unfortunately, many important objects were lost during the Soviet era.
Since the 90s of the XX century, as in the whole country, the revival of the Orthodox faith began in Saratov. The surviving church buildings were returned to the parishioners, and a long work on restoration began. In 2015, a program for the construction of 20 Orthodox churches in Saratov began. For 4 years of work, it has been fully implemented. Most of the churches were built in new areas of the city.
