Free museums in Vienna
1. Museum of money (Geldmuseum)
In the museum you can learn the history of money from invention to the present day. Opening hours: Tue-Wed from 9:30 to 15:30, Thu from 9:30 to 17:30, Fri from 9:30 to 13:30. Closed on Sundays and Mondays, December 24th and 31st and on public holidays. Address: Otto-Wagner-Platz 3.
2. Firefighting Museum (Feuerwehrmuseum)
The museum tells the story of firefighting: uniforms, equipment, vehicles, photographs and documents. Working hours: on weekends and holidays from 9 to 12 hours. Address: Haus Am Hof 7, 1st district.
3. MUSA Museum Start Gallery Artothek
The museum hosts exhibitions of contemporary art. Opening hours: Tuesday to Friday from 11:00 to 18:00 (Thursday until 20:00), Saturday until 16:00. Closed: Monday, Saturday, December 24 and 31 and public holidays. Free guided tours are available every Saturday from 2 pm to 3 pm. Address: Felderstraße 6-8, 1010 Vienna. Website: www.musa.at/en.
4. MOYA Museum of Young Art
Here you can see exhibitions of contemporary European art for free: painting, photography, sculpture, installations, video, and so on. Address: Palais Schönborn, Renngasse 4. Opening hours: Mon-Fri from 9 am to 5 pm. Website: www.moya-vienna.at.
5. District Museum Leopoldstadt and other district museums
In the museums, you can learn about the history of Vienna's districts. Museums are closed in July, August and during school holidays. Opening hours: Wednesdays from 16 to 18, on Sundays from 10 to 12. Address: Karmelitiergasse 9. Website: www.bezirksmuseum.at.
6. Phonomuseum
Museum of Radio and Communications. Address: Mollardgasse 8. Closed in July and August.

Partially free museums in Vienna
Most museums in Vienna hold an Open Day on the first Sunday of every month, when absolutely everyone can visit the expositions for free. Knowing this, you can significantly save on the cultural program by visiting Vienna's museums for free, especially if you are on a budget. In addition, since 2010, children and youth under 19 years of age can enter the following museums free of charge (upon presentation of a supporting document):

The following museums have free admission for all visitors on the first Sunday of every month:
1. Vienna Museum Karlplatz (Wien Museum Karlsplatz)
The main museum of the history of Vienna - here you will see archaeological exhibits, and examples of fine art, and costumes of citizens, and household items, weapons, and so on. Address: 1040 Vienna, Karlsplatz 8, next to Karlsplatz metro station. Opening hours: Tuesday to Saturday from 10 am to 6 pm Website: www.wienmuseum.at.
2. Military History Museum (Heeresgeschichtliches Museum)
The museum is dedicated to the military history of Austria from the 16th century to 1945. Address: Arsenal Objekt 1. Opening hours: daily from 9 am to 5 pm. Website: www.hgm.at.
3. Roman Museum (Römermuseum)
The museum reproduces the camp of the Roman legionaries who lived in Westphalia. Address: 1010 Vienna, Hoher Markt 3. Opening hours: Tuesday to Saturday from 9 am to 6 pm. Website: www.wienmuseum.at.
4. Clock Museum (Uhrenmuseum)
Here you can see how the clock has changed since 1921. Address: Schulhof 2 (next to Am Hof and Judenplatz). Opening hours: Tuesday to Saturday from 10 am to 6 pm.
5. Pratermuseum
Address: Oswald-Thomas-Platz 1 (Planetarium, beim Riesenrad). Opening hours: Fri - Sun from 10:00 to 13:00 and from 14:00 to 18:00.
6. Otto Wagner Pavillon Karlsplatz
Otto Wagner's elegant Art Nouveau pavilions used to be the entrance to the Vienna underground, but are now used as a café and exhibition space. Address: Karlsplatz. Open from April to October. Opening hours: Tuesday to Saturday from 10 am to 6 pm.
7. Villa of Hermes (Hermesvilla)
The villa, a former imperial residence, contains the personal belongings of the emperor and empress, documents, photographs, drawings and plans for the construction of the palace. The villa itself is located in a picturesque location. Address: Lainzer Tiergarten. The villa is open from 15 March to 2 November. Opening hours: Tuesday to Saturday from 10 am to 6 pm.
8. Musicians' houses:
- Haydn House with Brahms Memorial Room. Address: Heidngasse 19. Opening hours: Tue-Sun from 10:00 to 13:00 and from 14:00 to 18:00 hours.
- House where Schubert was born (with Stifter's memorial rooms). Address: Nussdorfer Strasse 54. Opening hours: Tue-Sun from 10:00 to 13:00 and from 14:00 to 18:00.
- The house where Schubert died. Address: Kettenbrückengasse 6. Opening hours: Wednesday and Thursday from 10:00 to 13:00 and from 14:00 to 18:00.
- House of Strauss. Address: Praterstrasse 54. Opening hours: Tue-Sun from 10:00 to 13:00 and from 14:00 to 18:00.
- Beethoven's three houses (Beethoven Wohnung Heiligenstadt, Eroicahaus, Pasqualatihaus).
